Resources for the Maker Community

Across global headlines, we are reminded that it takes a collective effort filled with empathy and compassion to tackle these hardships. Our team at NYC FIRST cannot express how inspired and motivated we feel seeing our community respond to the current COVID-19 outbreak. The FIRST community across all states have come together to support the frontlines heroes by leveraging their skills, resources and experiences.


Within our own community, our STEM Center teachers have been busy with not only teaching our students from a distance, but also using our 3D printers to create vital face shields and masks needed for our healthcare heroes working at the frontlines of this pandemic. 


If you’re looking to get started with creating, we understand it can be amazing and overwhelming to find so many resources available online. You mind find yourself in the same boat as our STEM Center teachers were with a challenge to decide the best design, the proper materials and where to distribute them. We tested many models before we decided to work on a model used by Cornell University.
