Located in the heart of Hudson Yards, one of New York City’s fastest-growing and most dynamic neighborhoods, the STEM Center serves as a central hub for innovation, creativity, and hands-on learning. The Center connects students from nearby schools across Manhattan’s West Side, including Hell’s Kitchen, Chelsea, Midtown, and surrounding communities, creating access to high quality STEM education in an area shaped by rapid development and technological growth.The Center introduces students to robotics, computational thinking, and digital fabrication through hands-on, project based learning. Participants build foundational skills in coding, engineering, and design while working with tools such as 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC machines, and FIRST robotics programs. By serving a diverse range of students, the Hudson Yards STEM Center plays a critical role in expanding access to advanced STEM resources, fostering community connections, and preparing the next generation of innovators in one of the city’s most forward-looking districts.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

The STEM Center at Hudson Yards is provided in partnership with Alliance Bernstein. Access to the STEM Center at Hudson Yards requires an NYC FIRST Membership. The STEM Center hosts workshops and can support FTC & FRC teams.

Transportation

The nearest subway access is via the 7 Train to the 34 St-Hudson Yards station. Nearby A,C,E,1,2,3 trains are available at 34 St-Penn Station. N,Q,R,W,B,D,F,M trains are available at 34 St-Harold Sq. M34-SBS, M12, & M11 Buses provided service along nearby streets. LIRR and Amtrak access available at Penn Station.

Parking

Metered street parking is available in the surrounding area although very limited. Paid parking garages are also available at nearby Hudson Yards & Javitz Center, though visitors are urged to check if event rates are in effect. A loading dock is available on 36 St for loading/un-loading with prior notice.

Arrival Directions

Visitors to The NYC FIRST STEM Center at Hudson Yards must enter the building via the 10th Ave entrance and check-in at the security desk. Take the elevator to the 8th floor and then make an immediate right. Look for NYC FIRST signage to direct you towards the STEM Center. Note the doors to the STEM Center are accessed controlled and requires a staff member to let you in.

Open hours are available for STEM Center member card holders from FRC and FTC teams. Access is subject to space availability, and workshops or other activities may reserve parts of the center. Hours may change based on programming, so please check for updates before visiting.

Engagements at
Hudson Yards
This STEM Center offers the following engagements and support for FIRST programs.
FRC
FIRST Robotics Competition
High school students take on a college-level engineering challenge by building full-scale industrial robots alongside professional mentors. The STEM Center supports FRC with fabrication capacity, prototyping space, and technical resources to test, iterate, and prepare for competition.
FTC
FIRST Tech Challenge
High school teams design, build, and program competitive robots using Java. The STEM Center provides an FTC competition field for practice, fabrication resources for custom parts, and collaborative workspace for design, strategy, and iteration throughout the season.
Tools and Machines Available
State-of-the-art fabrication equipment, computing, and robotics resources available to all members.
