Near-neat isopropyl alcohol, a fast-evaporating water-miscible solvent used to wash uncured photopolymer resin off printed parts. Rapid evaporation means a substantial vapour phase whenever it is poured, the washer is opened, or wet parts are handled.

Never do this

  • Never use isopropyl alcohol to wash uncured resin off skin.
  • Never use, pour or leave open 99.9% isopropyl alcohol near flames, sparks, hot work or other ignition sources.
  • Never pour resin-contaminated isopropyl alcohol into a sink or drain. It goes in the designated solvent and resin waste stream.

Controls in place

Keep the Form Wash closed whenever practical. Ventilate where it is poured, decanted and drained, and where wet parts are handled - those are the moments the vapour appears, not the sealed wash cycle.

Store the quantity actually in use and keep ignition sources out of that area.

Good to know

At 99.9% the issue is the combination of solvent vapour and ready ignition, not simply "a chemical liquid". Keeping the Form Wash closed when practical, and ventilating where it is poured, drained, and where wet parts are handled, is what reduces the release.

A particulate filter does nothing for a solvent vapour. If respiratory protection were ever the answer here it would need an organic-vapour cartridge, which is different equipment and a different programme - which is exactly why containment and ventilation are the controls instead.
