Resin

Approved

Photopolymer resin (methacrylate)

Liquid methacrylate and urethane-methacrylate photopolymer, cured layer by layer by light. Tough 2000 V2 declares methacrylate monomers at 40-60% and urethane dimethacrylate at 15-25%. Uncured material stays liquid and reactive until it is fully post-cured.

Never do this

  • Never use isopropyl alcohol or any other solvent to wash uncured resin off skin. Soap and water.
  • Never pour uncured resin or resin-contaminated wash solvent down a drain. It goes in the designated resin and solvent waste stream.

Controls in place

Containment rather than ventilation. Formlabs states these resins have no volatile solvents and that ordinary printing needs no special room ventilation, so the printer enclosure and a closed wash station do most of the work.

Gloves are the control that matters for the uncured liquid. Ventilate where parts are washed and cured, because that is where isopropyl alcohol vapour comes from rather than the resin itself.

Not permitted on

No machines are listed as prohibited for this material. That is not an approval — follow the requirements on the machine you are using.

Good to know

The material-specific issue is uncured liquid on skin. Tough 2000 V2 is classified skin sensitisation category 1 (H317). A sensitiser is not the same as an irritant: an irritant stops hurting once you wash it off, while a sensitiser can produce an allergy that appears suddenly and then stays for life.

Formlabs states its resins contain no volatile solvents and that ordinary printing needs no special room ventilation. Independent studies still measure volatile compounds across printing, washing and curing, so treat those as three linked stages rather than one sealed process.

Gloves and keeping uncured resin off skin do more here than any ventilation choice. The wash stage introduces isopropyl alcohol, which carries its own flammable-solvent hazard on a separate record.
