Vacuum-forming sheet

Thin PETG and high-impact polystyrene sheet, heated until it softens and then pulled over a former by vacuum. PETG stays relatively tough and ductile; HIPS is styrene-based and both forms and decomposes differently when heated.

General or local ventilation around repeated forming, mainly for the HIPS sheet. Correct forming temperature is itself a control: the sheet should soften, not pyrolyse, and an overheated sheet is what produces decomposition vapour.

Good to know

The sheet becomes a hot, floppy workpiece and holds heat after forming. HIPS is the fume-driving half of the pair because it is polystyrene-based. Normal forming should soften the plastic rather than pyrolyse it - an overheated sheet is where decomposition vapour comes from. PETG has less of a styrenic concern but is not emission-free when heated either.

Mayku's own compatibility list includes PVC. That is a statement about what the machine can physically form, not about what this centre will heat. PVC is prohibited on the vacuum former.
